Jason Bressler took action to warn his fellow marines of an imminent threat. That action has him facing a board of inquiry this Tuesday to determine whether or not his military career is over.

He’s accused of passing classified information through unclassified channels, in this instance, an email account.  The information involved an Afghan police chief whom Bressler knew was linked to the Taliban. The police chief was using his police force to kidnap and rape young children, as well as running guns and drugs, arming the Taliban and helping to facilitate terrorist attacks.

His warnings went unheeded and three marines were killed by one of the child victims of the police chief. Instead of bringing Bressler up on charges, perhaps the questioning finger pointing should be directed at whomever made the decision to ignore the information Bressler provided regarding a recognized threat.

Had that information been given the consideration that it deserved, it is possible that the attack which resulted in the deaths of the marines might not have taken place.

Six members of Congress who are also former marines just penned a letter to the Secretary of the Navy questioning the motivations and the propriety of their pursuit of Bressler. The implication being that they believe it is unwarranted and improper.

Bressler is a Naval Academy graduate and a decorated combat veteran.
