What’s the price of your freedom?

November 7, 2013
A patriot heard about a local “Gun Buy Back” program in the area. When he got there he is surprised to see such a long line. He waited in line for four hours before finally getting up to the table. The patriot pulled out a fully decked out, moderately used AR-15 and put it on the table. The police officer checked a piece of paper, looked over the gun and offered the patriot $655.00. The patriot smiled and put his AR back into its case.

Officer: “Sir, for a well used assault rifle, that is a pretty fair price.”

The patriot looked the officer in the eye and smiled as he continued to secure his rifle.

Officer: “Sir, do you understand that every gun we get off the street is a step towards reducing gun violence?”

The patriot gave the officer one last smile, grabbed his rifle case and turned to walk away.

Officer: “Hold on. I can see if we can offer a slightly higher quote. Assault rifles shouldn’t be in the hands civilians anyway.”

The patriot turned back to the officer, tightening his grip on his rifle case and began to look at the cop more closely.

Patriot: “I didn’t come here to sell my rifle.”

The officers face changed from a professional smile to a look of smug disappointment.

Patriot: “The price you gave me for my rifle is fair for it’s condition, but my freedom is not for sale.”

All traces of professionalism left the officers face and was replaced by anger.

Officer: “You waited in line for hours just so you could make a pathetic stand for gun rights?”

The patriot smiled again as he looked at the face of the officer as if trying to memorize his features.

Patriot: “No officer I did not. I came here to see what kind of people would actually be willing to give up their guns for a little cash or in the name of safety.” “I waited in line for four hours to see the faces of those willing to take those guns and I showed you my AR-15 so you can see what you have to look forward to if you ever think of trying to take it.”

A large crowd had gathered around him by this point and followed the patriot in support, as he walked away, rifle case and rifle in hand.
